2024 Artwork

The original artwork for the 2024 Fair was created by Tiffany Golden. Tiffany is an author, illustrator, and educator from Oakland who has had a big impact in our local literary community. She has been a participant and supporter of the fair since our first fair in 2017, so we were honored to have her work as the face of this year’s fair.

Artist Statement

Storytelling is my way of creating windows and mirrors—just like Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop describes. Through my work, I aim to build spaces where children see themselves reflected and discover new ways to view the world around them. Whether it’s writing stories that explore the joys and complexities of childhood or designing playful learning experiences, I believe in the power of representation and imagination.

Books, games, and creative workshops aren’t just things we consume—they are ways we connect, grow, and belong. My goal as an artist and educator is to encourage self-discovery and empathy, creating spaces where children feel seen, valued, and excited about who they are becoming. Every project I take on is guided by the idea that the stories we tell shape the futures we imagine.

About Tiffany

Tiffany Golden—known to her students as Ms. Tee—is a writer, artist, and educator dedicated to creating stories and experiences that reflect the beauty and diversity of childhood. Inspired by Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop’s vision of stories as “windows and mirrors,” Tiffany’s storytelling empowers young people to see themselves clearly while opening doors to new perspectives.

Her published works include I WANT TO BE BIG (Page Street Kids) and WASH DAY (Mayo Clinic Kids). Tiffany’s upcoming middle-grade novel, RIKKI AND RAI: THE EVERYDAY AND SOMETIMES EPIC ADVENTURES OF THE TUCKER SISTERS, will be published by Lee & Low. With a style that is intentional, playful, empathetic, and a tiny bit of snark, Tiffany’s work offers children and young learners spaces to grow, connect, and dream.
