🍂At this year’s book fair expect our book fair ( with more vendors), performances, read aloud’s hosted by partner @storyland.collective , panel discussions, and activities. As a past participant described it: “AMAZING event! So many things for the kiddos to do, learn about, peruse great books, and bring the community together.”

🍂NEW ARTWORK!
Check out this year’s artwork, created by the awesome artist Ajuan Mance. We think @ajuanmance knocked it out of the park for our tenth anniversary. Shout out to @danikacorrall for the design.

🍂2nd ANNUAL SOCIAL JUSTICE BOOK AWARDS AND CELEBRATION

Friday, December 4th, 6:00-8:30 pm at @oakstop ‘s Broadway Gallery in Downtown Oakland.

Also, we’re throwing a party to celebrate a decade of the Social Justice Children’s Book Fair!! Join us for a Friday evening celebration of YOU, our amazing social justice kid lit community. The 2nd Annual Social Justice Book Awards and Celebration is Free and open to our community.

Dear family, friends, and supporters,

Thanks to you sharing, reposting, texting, donating, and signal boosting, we not only met our goal, we exceeded it!!!!!

We operated this fair for the first seven years without any funding. But since we began seeking support to sustain the work, all kinds of people started showing up which is a beautiful sight to see. So thank you. We are still a scrappy largely volunteer project, so if you’d like you can donate to our efforts year round by hitting the link in our bio. 🙏🏾🙏🏽🙏🏼

Hey folks, this is the last day of our matching grant fundraiser. Huge shout out to the homie @itsmebrireads who is not only an incredible part of our SJCBF community but she is also a former preschool teacher turned content creator and she lovvvvves kids books!

In case you’re just tuning in, we the “Social Justice Children’s Book Fair” were given some grants to support our fair and our work and for the last month we’ve been fundraising to match it.
